Teletherapy or video counseling is becoming more popular as a medium for clients to access therapy, and for good reason. There are several benefits, and with rapidly evolving technology, it does not feel much different from an in-person session.
Privacy:
The platform I use is HIPAA compliant, meaning it is secure, private, and safe. Concern about seeing someone you know in the waiting room is eliminated, and you have the option to access session wherever you feel most comfortable.
Flexibility and Efficiency:
Life is busy these days, and having to take time out to travel to one more appointment, can feel overwhelming. With online counseling, you have the opportunity to access wherever it is convenient for you. Perhaps that is at home or parked in your car. Maybe it is in your office on a lunch break. This allows clients to juggle one less thing in an already busy schedule. You can join session using a computer/laptop or smart phone.
Eases Clients In:
Taking the leap to see a therapist for the first time can feel daunting. For some, starting with online therapy can feel safer and help you ease in to the process. It removes the worry about having trouble finding a new location, walking into a new place, or feeling unfamiliar with the check-in process.
Some clients may like to try out video therapy to start and transition to in-person. Others may prefer to stay online if that works better for them. Still others may do in-person until it becomes difficult for their schedules. Whatever your situation, there are many options. Feel free to contact me with any questions about online therapy or if you’d like to schedule an appointment.
